Asma Jahangir

Asma Jahangir (1952–2018) was a fearless Pakistani lawyer and human rights activist who spent her life fighting for the marginalized and challenging the most powerful institutions in her country. Known as “Pakistan’s voice for the voiceless,” she co-founded the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and was the first woman to serve as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Core Impact & Legacy Human Rights Pioneer: She co-founded the AGHS Legal Aid Cell in 1987, the first legal center in Pakistan to provide free assistance to women, children, and minorities. Mushaal (Mishal) Hussein Yaseen Malik

Mushaal (Mishal) Hussein Yaseen Malik  is a Pakistani painting artist, social activist, and politician primarily known as the wife of the incarcerated Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik.  Key Biographical Facts Political Role: She served as a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Human Rights and Women Empowerment within the caretaker government headed by Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Marriage: She married Yasin Malik, the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), on February 22, 2009, in Rawalpindi. The couple met in 2005 while Malik was on a tour of Pakistan. Family: They have a daughter named Raziyah Sultana, born in March 2012. Advocacy: She is a vocal advocate for the Kashmiri independence movement and frequently campaigns for her husband’s release from Indian custody. She has recently urged the Pakistani government to take his case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Artistic Background: Before her political and activist involvement, she was known as a painting artist. Current Situation She continues to lead international awareness campaigns regarding her husband’s health and legal situation in Tihar Jail, where he is serving a life sentence. Mishal Bukhari

Mishal Bukhari (1984–2023) was an award-winning Pakistani broadcast journalist and news anchor. She was widely recognized for her work with several leading news channels, including Express News, 92 News, Neo TV, and PTV News.   Career & Achievements Pioneer Role: She was a member of the launch team for Express News and served as the channel’s first female news anchor. Talk Show Host: She hosted popular current affairs programs, most notably Neo @ 5 on Neo News. International Coverage: In 2016, she provided live coverage of the U.S. Presidential Elections from Washington D.C. and New York. Awards: She received the Best Female Anchor of Pakistan award in 2013. Professional Programs: In 2014, she was selected for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) sponsored by the U.S. State Department.  Personal Life & Passing Education: She held a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of the Punjab.
