  • Second woman to be elevated to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and former Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

  • Born 8 August 1961 in Peshawar, Pakistan.

🔹 Education

  • LL.B. (Law degree) from Khyber Law College, University of Peshawar.

🔹 Legal & Judicial Career

  • Enrolled as advocate in district courts (1983), high court (1988), and the Supreme Court (2006).

  • Served in many first-ever roles for women in KP legal community:
    • first female secretary, vice president, and general secretary of the bar associations.
    • first female Additional Advocate General of KP (2001–2004).
    • first female Ombudsperson under Protection Against Harassment at Workplace Act.
    • first female chairperson of the KP Environmental Protection Tribunal.

  • Elevated to the PHC bench (2013) and became acting then regular Chief Justice (2023).

  • In July 2023 she was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court, becoming the second female Supreme Court judge after Ayesha Malik.

🏆 Key Achievements

  • Broke multiple barriers in bar associations where women historically had limited representation.

  • Strong advocate for human rights; participated in the 2007 Lawyers’ Movement.
