Maryam Nawaz Sharif

Political Role:

• First female Chief Minister of Punjab (2024–present).

Early Life:

• Born 28 October 1973 in Lahore to political leader Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom Nawaz.

Education:

• Early schooling at Convent of Jesus and Mary, Lahore.

• Completed FSc at Lahore College for Women (1991).

• Studied medicine briefly at King Edward Medical College and Fatima Jinnah Medical College but did not complete it after her marriage.

• Master’s in English Literature from the University of the Punjab.

• Has also reportedly pursued research/PhD studies on post‑9/11 topics (though her PhD status was questioned publicly).

Political Career:

• Rose to prominence in PML‑N in early 2010s; led youth programs and party strategy; later held leadership roles and now holds executive office as Chief Minister.

Family Life:

• Married Captain (Retd.) Safdar Awan; has three children.
